Evaluation of the microbial community through metagenomic analyses, analysis of PHAs biomass as food for aquaculture.

This work package is aimed at achieving Objective 3 (OB3) by evaluating the microbial community through metagenomic analyses and analyzing PHAs biomass as potential food for aquaculture.

One important aspect is the validation of the findings, this can be accomplished by verification of the electrochemical approaches as innovative tools to manipulate microbiota and a pilot test for the formulation and evaluation of the microbial proteins produced as ingredients for animal feed. To achieve this goal, the biomass will be sampled, and its DNA sequenced. Novel biotechnological applications of PHAs will consider their use as feed ingredients or supplement for aquaculture in substitution of commercial raw materials.
