Reframe: Transforming Waste into Resources
Reframe is the new scientific project funded by the European Union and led by the University of Verona, which transforms waste into resources
The research involves not only Federico Micolucci, a research fellow at the Department of Biotechnology, but also Nicola Frison, a professor of Chemical Engineering. The aim is to transform wastewater treatment facilities into biorefineries through efficient resource recovery.
Each Italian citizen disposes of approximately 70 rolls of toilet paper per year (European consumption can reach up to 100 rolls of toilet paper/ p y) into domestic wastewater, a notably high number. But what are the immediate consequences of this habit? Where do these 70 rolls end up today? Moreover, when considering the global population, what is the environmental impact of this practice?
